Let’s Look At The Possibilities

In my last posting, I mentioned that my family and I were about to embark on a two week vacation that will have us trekking across several states and that it should provideo ample opportunities for railfanning. We have now been on this trip since last Friday at 3:15pm CT.

I thought I would share links to train rides/museums in the different states we will be crossing, that some of are possibilities for us to be able to experience. I was going to just write out the list for each state, where each is located, etc but that would take for-ever.

We’ll begin with Illinois, where the freight railroads are the same as they are here in Kansas City, Missouri. They include BNSF, CSX, CanadIan Pacific, Canadian National, Kansas City Southern, Norfolk Southern and Union Pacific.

Next up is Indiana. The major freight railroads are Canadian National, Canadian Pacific, CSX and Norfolk Southern, though there are many other short line freight roads in use as well.

Next in our rail lineup is Ohio. There, the major freight roads are Canadian National, CSX and Norfolk Southern.

We then cross into Pennsylvania. The major freight railroads there are CSX and Norfolk Southern.

Next, we spend a very brief drive in West Virginia. Again, the major freight railroads are CSX and Norfolk Southern.

We then arrive in Maryland, where we stayed at the Comfort Inn Gold Coast in Ocean City. Here, the major freight railroads are Canadian Pacific and CSX.

Afterward we move on to Virginia, where my youngest Brother In Law’s family live in Vienna, and my Son lives in Fairfax. The major freight railroads are Canadian Pacific, CSX and Norfolk Southern.

In previous trips out there, we have also spent time in Delaware and New York. Here are some train rides info for the two of them.

In Delaware, we are back to the major freight railroads being CSX and Norfolk Southern.

In New York, we have the bigger group of major freight railroads of Canadian National, Canadian Pacific, CSX, and Norfolk Southern.

Today In Railroad History Volume 1

For some time, I had been researching the history of many railroads and put dates that I found in my calendar on my phone, so that I would receive alerts on those days. I has then been sharing them on Facebook, (I’m John W Losh II on Facebook if you want to send me a Friend request) just as I did today.

But then this morning it dawned on me that I was missing a huge opportunity to be more consistent with my posts on this site, which would involve sharing those dates here as well.

Legacies On The Rails Presents Today In Railroad History: May 30th, 1974: The remainder of the Board of the US Railway Association was named. Edward G Jordan was previously named President and Arthur D Lewis had been named Chairman.

If you send me a Friend Request on Facebook, please let me know that you follow this blog.

I hope that if you have not accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Lord & Savior that you will examine whatever objections are keeping you from it, and make Him your Engineer today. If you know Him, continue to follow Him with all your heart, mind, strength and soul each day. And when it comes to trains, and everything that is Railroading, that you continue leaving Legacies…On The Rails!

A Late Look Back At 2017

I am waaaay late publishing this update. I was hurt on my job back in Mid October of 2017 and was on injury leave for 9 weeks and sick leave for another, and while that left me more than ample time to be keeping up with all my blogs, I simply got out of my routine and just wasn’t finding motivation. So, it’s obvious that 2018’s blog posts and videos number will be substantially lower that 2017.

I have been in a 9-5 Monday thru Friday job since Mid February. Between the job, time with my wife, hosting a weekly Ministry radio show called Fulfill Your Ministry on 102.7 FM KPGZ-Kearney, Missouri Community Radio, that airs Saturdays at 9am CT, and delving more into my studies of the Bible, even completing a 13 Lesson online non-accredited course called The Story Of Scripture through Dallas Theological Seminary, and others that will follow, I have had and will continue to have less time for railfanning, blogging about it, etc. But I will do the best I can.

But I wanted to post an update on my railfan stats for 2017 especially in the face of a two week trip my family and I embark on Friday of this week, that will have us trekking across seven or more states, that will provide ample opportunities for excursion train riding, rail museum and rail display visiting, a Railroad Heritage Days Festival and more.
